KUALA LUMPUR : Local construction players will have the opportunity to meet potential foreign business partners at the 23rd Malaysian International Building Exposition (Malbex 2006) that ends on Saturday.
Ed Ng Ee Peng
Event organiser Reed Exhibitions Pte Ltd president Ed Ng Ee Peng said it was hoped that Malbex 2006 would help Malaysian construction companies gain stronger international presence and provide a networking opportunity for the global construction players.
Â?The event will act as a business platform for Malaysian construction players to meet business partners globally, as well as to exchange business ideas and technologies,Â? he told StarBiz yesterday.
To be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the exhibition has attracted about 250 buyers from 15 countries, with the biggest from China, followed by Chile, France, India and Ireland. A new feature in this year's event was the Buyers and Sellers Village, where pre-arranged meetings would allow the exhibitors to meet with each other, said Ng.
Â?We are having a two-day (Sept 13 and 14) Buyers and Sellers Village for our exhibitors to promote their products, as well as to widen their contacts in the global market.
Â?The important strategic initiative will further support Malbex 2006 as a two-way platform for the international and local construction players. We target to pre-arrange about 1,500 meetings and are confident it will create more opportunities for business deals,Â? he said.
Ng added that the event was expected to attract about 18,000 visitors from more than 28 countries, an increase of 3,000 visitors over last year.
Malbex 2006 has 225 exhibitors from 15 countries. The companies include Aplus Lime Sdn Bhd, UAC Bhd, The Thai Olympic Fibre and Hong Kong Kin Long Construction Hardware (Group) Co Ltd.
