Passport and Travel Document
The PASSPORT is an official document issued by a government, certifying the holder's identity and citizenship and entitling them to travel under its protection to and from foreign countries and recognised as a travel document by the Government of Malaysia.
1. Possession of Passport/Travel Document
The passport / travel document is the property of the Government of Malaysia and may be withdrawn at any time if the Immigration Department is satisfied that the passport / travel document has been misused and contravenes the Passport Act 1966. The holder is fully responsible for the security of the passport / travel document.
2. Lost Passport/Travel Document
A Police Report should be made as soon as possible and the loss should be reported to the Embassy, High Commission, Consulate, or Consulate General / Immigration Office. An application for a replacement passport can be submitted at the nearest Embassy, High Commission, Consulate, or Consulate General / Immigration Office by submitting the application form with supporting documents, a photocopy of the police report and any other relevant documentary evidence. If the country you're in does not have a Malaysian Embassy, High Commission, Consulate, or Consulate General / Immigration Office you will need to find one that's in another country closest to you and contact them for further instructions.
3. Damaged Passport/Travel Document
Request for a new passport can be made at the nearest Immigration Office by submitting an application for a replacement passport and the approval will depend on the decision of the Immigration Department.
