THE 7.8 RITCHTER SCALE EARTHQUAKE STRUCK ECUADOR
We wish to inform that a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Ecuador on Saturday, 16 April 2016 at 6.58 pm (7.58 a.m. Malaysian time).
The earthquake was centered 27 kilometres (17 miles) from the town of Muisne and 170 kilometres (110 miles) from the capital of Quito with a depth of 19 kilometres.
A state emergency was declared throughout the country by the Government of Ecuador.
As of 18 April 2016 (12pm local time / 1am Malaysian time), at least 238 people were reportedly killed and thousands injured in the said earthquake.
As of 12pm Ecuador local time, we have been in communication with one of the two Malaysians whom we just found out have been working with the Huawei company in Quito. Both of them are safe and sound!
