BIRTH REGISTRATION
A. FATHER IS A MALAYSIAN CITIZEN

Note:
- The father and baby are required to be present at the Consulate General.
- The birth of the child must be registered within one year from the date of birth.
- The birth certificate of the baby’s mother should be provided with an English or Malay translation and endorsed (authenticated) by the consulate of the relevant country in the Hong Kong SAR or its issuing authority.
- The birth certificate from Macau which is in Portuguese and Chinese, should be provided with an English or Malay translation from any solicitor/notary public/lawyer in Macau along with a copy of their practicing certificate
B. MOTHER IS A MALAYSIAN CITIZEN AND FATHER IS A NON-MALAYSIAN CITIZEN

Note:
- The parents and the baby are required to be present at the Consulate.
- The mother is a Malaysian at the time of the child’s birth.
- The child is eligible if he/she was born after the marriage of the parents.
- This application is only applicable for those born on or after 01.01.2010.
- The birth of the child must be registered within one (1) year from the date of birth.
- The birth certificate of the baby’s father should be provided with English or Malay translation and endorsed (authenticated) by the Consulate of the relevant country in the Hong Kong SAR.
- The birth certificate from Macau which is in Portuguese and Chinese, should be provided with an English or Malay translation from any solicitor/notary public/lawyer in Macau along with the copy of their Practicing Certificate.

MARRIAGE REGISTRATION (FOR NON-MUSLIM MARRIAGE ONLY)
| Under (Marriage and Divorce Act 1976 of Malaysia) Marriage can be registered at the Malaysian Mission if at least one of the couples is a Malaysian citizen. Non-Muslim citizens who are married in Hong Kong MUST register the marriage with this office within the period of six (6) months from the date of marriage. This is a legal requirement for the marriage to be legally recognized in Malaysia. | |

Note:
- Husband and wife must register with the Consulate General of Malaysia in the Hong Kong SAR within six (6) months from the date of marriage. After six (6) months, there will be a penalty charge of HK$ 200.00 for the first year (one (1) day late is considered one (1) year penalty). For each subsequent year, the penalty will be HK$ 100.00 a year or part thereof. Penalty will NOT be imposed on those who were married before 01 March 1982.
- Husband and wife must come together in person for filling out and signing of application form and the certificate; Borang KC06 and KC07.
- Those who were married outside Hong Kong and wish to register their marriage with the Consulate General of Malaysia in the Hong Kong SAR should get their marriage certificate endorsed by the consulate of the relevant country in Hong Kong SAR.
- A Marriage certificate from Macau, which is in Portuguese and Chinese, should be provided with an English or Malay translation from any solicitor/notary public/lawyer in Macau along with a copy of their practicing certificate.
