On 12 September 2025, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Hong Kong organised a reception on the occasion of the 68th National Day and the 62nd Malaysia Day at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Macau. The event was supported by the Macau ASEAN International Chamber of Commerce, Plaza Premium Group and Perfect China.
The event was graced by The Honourable Tai Kin Ip, Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macau Government, and Ms. Ma Nai Fang, Director of Policy Research at the Commissioner’s Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in Macau, S.A.R. Speaking at the reception, The Honourable Tai Kin Ip highlighted the strong ties between Malaysia and Macau, attributed by the shared cultural similarities and robust air connectivity between Kuala Lumpur and Macau. He noted that these factors have driven over 100,000 Malaysian visitors to Macau this year alone.
In his remarks, Consul General Muzambli Markam noted that Malaysia and China have forged a strong mutually-beneficial partnership rooted in economic, cultural, people-to-people as well as security ties. He also reflected on Malaysia’s recent achievements, its leadership role in ASEAN as the Chair of ASEAN 2025 as well as the frequent exchanges of high-level visits between two countries with year 2025 notably recorded State Level Visit by President Xi Jingping to Malaysia in April, followed by Premier Li Qiang’s in June and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to Tianjin and Beijing being the most recent ones that took place just last week.
As Malaysia is gearing up for the Visit Malaysia 2026, Consul General also invited guests to discover the “Surreal Experiences” of Malaysia’s beauty, heritage and hospitality.
Consul General Muzambli also commended Macau for its comprehensive Muslim Travellers Halal Guide and its efforts to provide halal dining options, attractions, and partnerships with CrescentRating for Muslim-friendly hotel certifications. He expressed Malaysia’s confidence that these initiatives strategically position Macau to become a leading global destination for Muslim tourism.
In the spirit of this year’s National Day theme – “Malaysia MADANI:Rakyat Disantuni” (People's Prioritised), Consul General also lauded the vibrant Malaysian community in Macau for their contribution and for promoting Malaysia in their own way, while flying the Jalur Gemilang high abroad.
The event was well-attended by members of the Consular Corps, local officials, local chambers, prominent businesses based in Macau, Malaysian diaspora and friends of Malaysia, all of whom savoured an authentic spread of Malaysian delicacies.
