Malaysia and Hong Kong enjoy close relations, especially in the trade and economic fields. In 2021, Malaysia was Hong Kong’s 9th biggest trading partner in goods, with the average annual growth rate in bilateral trade from 2017 to 2021 at about 10%. In 2021, Hong Kong was Malaysia’s 7th largest trading partner and 4th largest export market. In the same year, more than 10% of total trade between Malaysia and China went through Hong Kong.
