2026 China Main Venue Event of International Tea Day Convenes in Nanning

On 21 May 2026, Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the  2026 China Main Venue Event of International Tea Day, at Liyuan Resort, Nanning. The event was graced by H.E. Xu Xianhui, Vice Governor of Guangxi People’s Government.   

Co-organized by Guangxi Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (ARA) and the Agricultural Trade Promotion Centre of China’s Ministry of ARA, the event aimed at building a more inclusive tea ecosystem that supports sustainability and economic growth, and enhancing cultural exchanges and mutual appreciation of tea.

The event managed to bring together over 300 participants from China and other major tea producing countries, including two scholars from Malaysia, namely Dr. Khairil Bin Mahmud and Dr. Mohd Shafar Jefri Bin Mokhtar, Senior Lecturers of Faculty of Agriculture, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). 

Officially recognised by the United Nations in 2019, the International Tea Day is celebrated every year on 21 May, aiming to raise awareness of the long history and the deep cultural and economic significance of tea around the world.
