China-ASEAN Business and Trade Platform Promotion Event held in Nanning

On 18 May 2026, Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the China-ASEAN Business and Trade Platform (CABTP) Promotion event, at the Liyuan Resort, Nanning. The event was hosted by China News Network.  

Leveraged by the advantages of China News Network in domestic and international communication, the platform was established to facilitate economic and trade cooperation between China and ASEAN through providing accurate and practical business and trade information services for government agencies, research institutions, industrial organizations and business entities from both sides.

Following the meeting, the Consul General toured the China-ASEAN Mercantile Exchange and the China-ASEAN AI Innovation Cooperation Centre, where he received briefings on Guangxi-Malaysia trade cooperation and the region's AI development progress and promotional initiatives.

During his interview with China News Network after the meeting, he shared his insights on the China-ASEAN relations over the past five years. He highlighted the tremendous progress and close engagement between the two sides, a trend vividly reflected in the growing trade ties between Malaysia and China. He stressed that in recent years, Malaysia’s products, such as durian, bird’s nest and white coffee have established a strong presence in the Chinese market. Moreover, the close engagement between the two countries have seen China’s electric vehicles gaining significant momentum in Malaysia.

In light of global technological trends, he further called on China and ASEAN to continue expanding cooperation in emerging sectors, such as artificial intelligence, digital economy, cross-border e-commerce, and smart city projects. He also encouraged enhanced mutual understanding among youths from both sides through more exchanges and visits, as they are the future builders of bilateral relations.
