Notary Services

Powers are conferred upon Consular Officer of the Embassy to do any notary act which any notary public can do within Malaysia and to administer oaths, take affidavits and generally exercise the functions of a commissioner for oaths.

In addition, Consular Officer of the Embassy is also empowered to certify (or commonly called legalised) for use in Malaysia the identity of official seals and signatures on documents emanating from the Czech authorities. Consular Officer, in some cases, may also legalise official seals and signatures on Malaysian official documents for use in the Czech Republic.

A document drawn up in Malaysia for use the Czech Republic must be executed by a notary public in Malaysia and authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia before it could be presented to the Embassy for legalisation.

The same procedure applies to a document originating from the Czech Republic for use in Malaysia where the document will have to be first executed by a notary public in the Czech Republic and authenticated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic before it is presented to the Embassy for legalisation.

Requirements for notary services are as follows:

• Passport
• Identity card (applicable to Malaysians only)
• A formal application letter from company duly printed and signed by an authorised person on company's letterhead pad (if applicable)
• Documents that need to be certified/endorsed/legalised (original and photocopy)
• A fee of RM 20.00 per each certification/endorsement/legalisation (payable in equivalent amount in local currency)

Other Services

Other than the above, the Embassy also offers the following services and provides assistance in following cases:

• Registration of absent voters for qualified Malaysians in the Czech Republic
• Serving judicial documents to defendants in Malaysia or in the Czech Republic
• Obtaining diplomatic clearance for Malaysian aircraft flying over or landing in the Czech territory
• Locating missing Malaysians in the Czech Republic
• Arrest of Malaysians in the Czech Republic
• Death of Malaysians in the Czech Republic
• Emergency situation such as flood, earthquake etc.
