Passport Renewal

Applications may be submitted at the Embassy of Malaysia in Helsinki. We kindly encourage applicants to apply at least six (6) months prior to their passport’s expiry date, as the processing period typically takes between two and three months. This is because passports are issued by the Immigration Department at the High Commission in London.

To avoid any disruption to your travel plans, we recommend planning your application well in advance.

Requirements (original documents must be presented):

• Form IM 42 (2 copies, A4, printed double-sided on one A4 sheet)
• Malaysian Identity Card and Finland Residence Permit (front and back on one page) – 2 photocopies
• First page of current passport – 2 photocopies
• Three (3) passport-sized photographs (35 × 50 mm, white/grey background, ears visible)
• Passport fee: EUR 45 (over 12 years old) / EUR 25 (under 12 years old) – cash only
• Postage cost from Helsinki to London via POSTI: EUR 25.00 (cash only)
  Postage arrangements from London to Helsinki will be confirmed at a later stage, and online payment will be arranged by the applicant.

Additional Information:

• Applications are accepted by appointment only, Monday to Friday, 09:00–12:00. Please email us with your preferred date, and we will revert with availability.
• The applicant must attend in person for fingerprint collection.
• You may retain your current passport until the new one is issued.
