Keski-Pohjanmaan news published an article on the visit by Ambassador John to Kokkola, in Western Finland, part of the Central Ostrobothnia region. The article describes the visit, which included among others a visit to Raisoft, the central hospital and the city hall. Particularly the hospital visit was said to have made an impression on the Ambassador:
“- Up to now I have gotten to know Finnish universities but this is my first visit to a hospital. In Malaysia doctors are obliged to serve in the public service for three years after graduation but after the obligation the majority of them very quickly move to become private doctors as the income level is multiplied.”
The article also mentions the Ambassador hopes to build new bridges between Finland and Malaysia.
“- Malaysia is a good avenue for Finnish companies aiming for Asia. Our location is central and we have good relations to neighbouring countries and a strong tradition of trading. I never want to promise too much but my goal is to create contacts and to bring together the right people. When I get them in the same room, I step away and leave them to discuss among themselves, Ambassador John K Samuel described his job.”
