Helsinki, 8 August 2016 – The Embassy of Malaysia in Helsinki hosted the ASEAN Flag Hoisting Ceremony in commemoration of the ASEAN Day with attendance from the ASEAN Heads of Mission, representatives of the ASEAN Dialogue Partners, invited guests and officers and staff of the ASEAN embassies. The Flag was hoisted in sync with the ASEAN anthem, and led by staff of the Embassy of Malaysia, Mr. Mourad Sayah, Ms. Satu Spratley and Ms. Jerlene Wallenius as flag hoister and bearers.
As the Chair of the ASEAN Helsinki Committee, Her Excellency Dato’ Blanche Olbery, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Finland, delivered a short speech on the relations between ASEAN and its dialogue partners, ASEAN Community 2015 and ASEAN Vision 2025. In addition, HE Dato’ Ambassador shared with the guests of the programmes by the Embassy of Malaysia to promote ASEAN in Finland, including the upcoming ASEAN Food Festival 2016.
The Ceremony ended with a small reception for all the guests with each of the Helsinki-based ASEAN embassies prepared light refreshments from their respective countries.
The Embassy of Malaysia would also like to convey a special thank you and its appreciation to the Embassy of Indonesia for their kind cooperation and generosity for the event to take place at their Chancery on Kuusisaarentie, Helsinki.
