ASEAN Helsinki Committee visit to Kokkola Industrial Park (KIP)

28 September 2024 1 views
For the last part of our visit to Kokkola, we had the opportunity to explore the KIP - Kokkola Industrial Park — the largest industrial ecosystem in Northern Europe.
KIP has a rich history of advancing the circular economy for over 50 years and is home to several prominent companies.
We learned about Sibanye-Stillwater’s Keliber lithium project, which will make it the first European lithium refinery to produce battery-grade lithium hydroxide from its own ore, Hycamite TCD Technologies' efforts in decarbonising industry through clean hydrogen production and methane splitting, and Flexens’ plans to build Finland's largest hydrogen plant. These sustainable solutions have strong potential for partnerships and knowledge exchange with ASEAN nations. KIP's vision to be the world’s most functional industrial ecosystem is inspiring, and we look forward to exploring further opportunities for cooperation, particularly in clean energy and technology sectors.
