Malaysia's chairmanship of the ASEAN Helsinki Committee (AHC) was initiated with the first joint event of the year, meeting with Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. The enlightening discussions covered foreign and security policy, trade and development as well as the relations between Finland and ASEAN and each country present - namely Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
The occasion was an opportunity for Malaysia to highlight the positive outlooks of our bilateral relations with Finland, with active engagement and potential to build on in areas such as green technology and tourism.
The meeting was followed by a dinner of the Heads of Mission of the AHC where discussions continued to further expand the promotion and cooperation of ASEAN countries in the region. We look forward to working together for the further enhancement of the relations of our countries and ASEAN in Finland and the region.
