The Malaysian Embassy Helsinki together with Malaysian Investment Development Authority - MIDA Stockholm and the ASEAN Embassies visited Tampere connecting with local businesses and city officials to explore future opportunities.
Tampereen kauppakamari - Tampere Chamber of Commerce organised a networking session with companies based in the region interested in expanding to Southeast Asia, in which ASEAN Ambassadors and representatives introduced the current focus areas and investment opportunities to the Finnish companies.
As the current Chair country of the ASEAN Helsinki Committee, Mr Mohamed Ariff Mohamed Ali, Chargé d’Affaires took the opportunity to highlight the weight and potential the ASEAN market has to offer. Mr Khairul Azhar, MIDA Stockholm presented the investment opportunities and the diverse industry landscape of Malaysia.
MIDA’s presentation provided invaluable insights into Malaysia’s recent policies, emphasizing the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR). These initiatives prioritize the advancement of industries such as green energy and electric vehicles, supported by Malaysia's well-established semiconductor ecosystem, showcasing the nation's commitment to strategic industrial development.
After the networking session, ASEAN Ambassadors and representatives had discussions over lunch with the Deputy Mayor Mr Ilkka Sasi and local officials at the beautiful Old City Hall. Key areas of potential highlighted include the semiconductor industry, smart cities, water treatment, defence, circular economy solutions and education, among others.
