With the arrival of the year of Rabbit, the Embassy of Malaysia celebrated the Chinese New Year in the full spirit of 1Malaysia by hosting a ‘Chinese New Year Pot Luck Open House’ at the Ambassador’s official residence ‘Rumah Malaysia’ in Espoo on Saturday 12 February 2011.

Chinese New Year is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It is also a public holiday in Malaysia.

The event gathered together members of the Malaysian community in Finland as well as Friends of Malaysia at the ‘Rumah Malaysia’, where guests enjoyed a variety of delicious Malaysian dishes. A lucky draw was also organised and participants had a chance to win cruise discount tickets. In addition, traditional Chinese red envelopes or known as ‘Ang Pow’ were distributed to children and young single people under the age of 18.

The afternoon celebration of the year of Rabbit was a pleasant occasion for everyone to enjoy plenty of Malaysian food and each others’ company.
