At the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council elections which was held during the 33rd Assembly of the IMO at the IMO Headquarters in London on Friday, 1 December 2023.
Malaysia obtained the 10th highest number of votes in Category C, securing a total of 134 votes from the 168 ballots cast.
Finland also made the list in 19th place. 24 countries had vied for the 20 Council seats under Category C.
This is Malaysia’s 10th consecutive term elected to the IMO Council. Support for Malaysia’s continued Council membership is indeed a reflection of Malaysia’s active role in the international maritime sector and proven track record as an active Council member.
