Visitors at the Matka Travel Fair had the opportunity to learn more about Langkawi, one of our popular island destinations. The Malaysian Embassy Helsinki joined forces with team Malaysia at Matka in showcasing our beautiful country.
Langkawi booth represented by the Langkawi Tourism Development Authoritiy (LADA) made a comeback this year and highlighted what the majestic island could offer.
Langkawi's presentation offered interesting facts such as:
- Langkawi is home to Southeast Asia’s first UNESCO Global Geopark
- the name comes from the Malay words for eagle ("helang") and red stone ("kawi")
- the archipelago is host to 99 islands
- there is duty-free shopping
- they are hosts to the Iron Man Malaysia competition.
