PERLIS Fun Facts!
1. Perlis is the smallest state in Malaysia
2. The name of Perlis comes from the Thai phrase "Phrao Loi" which means kelapa hanyut (coconut washed ashore).
3. Kangar is the capital or Perlis and is the largest town in the state. You can find the Taman Anggur Perlis (Perlis Vineyard) in here too! Where you can get fresh grapes and the popular seasonal fruit, Mangga Harum Manis . Meanwhile, an area in Perlis (Arau) is also known as the traditional royal capital of the Sultan.
4. The most visited destination in Perlis, the 370 meter-long cave of Gua Kelam is located at Perlis State Park. The park situated on the longest continuous range of limestone hills Malaysia called the Nakawan Range.
6. If you like to go for a gastronomic adventure (or Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan as the local saying goes), then Kuala Perlis offering you a lot of seafood restaurants. Mee Udang is one of the famous dishes you should try
7. Padang Besar is a bustling town filled with duty-free shops for shoppers as its location is very near to Thailand and encourages many visits from our northern neighbours. Though Perlis is located at northern part of Peninsular Malaysia & at the border of northern Thai, you can easily reach here via the well connected ETS train link
8. Home to one of the biggest snake parks in Asia, the Snake & Reptile Park in Perlis also a place where you can watch King Cobra and take photos with tame snakes.
