• The European Union (EU) is first and foremost a project of peace and stability, Finland plays an important partner in the EU. 9 May celebrates the EU’s initiative in bringing people together to celebrate the formation of this partnership
• In our region, 8 August on the other hand is celebrated as ASEAN Day. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was formed to accelerate economic growth, social progress and cultural development; to promote peace and stability and close cooperation among the 10 SEA nations.
• The EU and ASEAN have now been partners for more than 40 years and – as the world’s two most advanced regional blocs – we have been cooperating on political and security issues; on tackling the main challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and together we are pushing for sustainable and economic growth in both regions and the world.
• Malaysia-Finland are important partners bilaterally as well as regionally. In 2023, both nations celebrate 50th Anniversary of Bilateral Relations
