Our Sports Diplomacy initiatives continues in the realm of the footballing world. If yesterday we covered our player-maker Nooa Laine and The Football Association of Malaysia HarimauMalaya, today we are highlighting another legend of the sport from Perak Malaysia, V. Saravanan Sara Vellu
Saravanan, a former National player for the Harimau Malaya has returned to Malaysia to be the Assistant Coach for the Perak FC. His main goal is to contribute towards the development and betterment of Perak FC as his way of giving back to the club that has molded him to be a successful player.
In his stint back, he has raised the team's performance and brought Perak FC to the semi-finals for the Malaysian Cup; of which the last time the team has made it to this stage was in 2018. He also has a knack of identifying players that can be developed further stars .
Diligent in training and planning, Saravanan has carefully analyzed all aspects on the growth of Perak FC to which the results can be seen. This is also contributed to the time he has been coaching the youth team at HJK here in Finland
When asked what's next?, he shared his next goal in the coming year is to further elevate the club in the Malaysian League as well as identify gems in Perak FC to ultimately be selected to represent the national team.

The goal ideally is to win the championship before he leaves back to coach HJK once more in Finland. His personal goal also includes obtaining the UEFA Pro-license to further enhance his career as a coach. All the best Sara, we at the Malaysian Embassy Helsinki are rooting for you!
Also, wanting to take this opportunity to issue a special shoutout to the Huuhkajat for your Euro Qualifier match against Northern Ireland this week. Kaikkea Hyvää!
