The Malaysian Embassy in Helsinki, in partnership with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) in Stockholm, participated in the 2025 Vaasa Energy Week, a key event in the Nordic energy sector. Vaasa, known for its vibrant energy cluster, served as an ideal platform to connect with industry leaders and explore the latest innovations in sustainable energy. The event provided a unique opportunity to showcase Malaysia's growing investment potential in the energy sector and explore future collaborations with Finnish companies.
Highlighting Malaysia’s Energy Potential
At a side event organised in cooperation with B3CF, Chargé d'Affaires Mr. Ariff Ali of the Malaysian Embassy, alongside Mr. Khairul Azhar, Acting Director of MIDA Stockholm, shared valuable insights into Malaysia’s dynamic energy sector. With Malaysia taking on the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, the discussions emphasised the country’s role in driving regional energy collaboration, sustainability, and investment opportunities. The dialogue fostered deeper understanding and laid the groundwork for future collaborations between Malaysia and Finland in the energy sector.
During the Vaasa Energy Week, the Malaysian delegation also engaged with key companies in the Vaasa energy hub, including VEO, VILPE, and Hitachi Energy. VEO’s focus on electrification and sustainable energy solutions, VILPE’s innovations in energy-efficient building technologies, and Hitachi Energy’s expertise in grid technology and energy transition all align with Malaysia’s green energy goals, opening doors for future collaborations and synergies.
Looking Ahead: Future Collaborations
Vaasa Energy Week 2025 was a highly productive experience, reaffirming Malaysia's commitment to driving green investments and energy transition efforts. The event brought together over 160 companies in the EnergyVaasa cluster, driving innovation in hydrogen, energy storage, renewables, and sustainable technologies. This interaction with global leaders in the energy sector strengthens the ties between the Nordic and Malaysian energy ecosystems, creating a solid foundation for future collaborations.
As Malaysia continues to push forward with its sustainable development agenda, including the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), the valuable insights and partnerships formed at Vaasa Energy Week will help shape the country's energy future.
