Visit to Sandvik's Turku facilities

Malaysian Embassy Helsinki together with Malaysian Investment Development Authority - MIDA Stockholm had the opportunity to see first-hand tour the company’s Turku facilities and have a better understanding of their Load and Haul operations here in Finland as well as their business strategy with Malaysia.
• Sandvik’s Mining and Rock Solutions business segment announced on 10 March 2023 that the company will invest in a production unit in Malaysia for manufacturing underground loaders and trucks.
• The facility is proposed to be located at Sendayan Tech Valley, Negeri Sembilan. The facility will be the first in South East Asia to produce Load and Haul Machinery (diesel), Battery Hybrid Electric Vehicles (BHEV) and Battery cages.
• According to Mats Eriksson, President of Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, “Malaysia is among the most technologically developed countries in Southeast Asia and has abundant skilled labor, strong local industrial suppliers and reliable infrastructure. Our mining customers in Asia Pacific will enjoy shorter lead times for equipment manufactured to the same Sandvik standards for quality and safety.”
• The company aims to begin equipment production in Q4 2023 following factory upgrades and other site improvements. The expected investment is around 31 million EUR over the course of three years.
