The Embassy of Malaysia visited the Ruissalo Foundation Senior Village, Saga Munkkiniemi, hosted by Mr. Jari Niemi, Vice-President of the Malaysian-Finnish Business Council. The visit enabled us to learn first-hand of the types of facilities of assisted living provided for senior citizens in Finland.
The Saga Munkkiniemi service house has about 300 rental homes and common facilities including a library, restaurant, cafe, sauna, pool section, as well as services of health care personnel and wellness. Discussions covered the different contexts of healthcare and elderly care in Finland and Malaysia and potential opportunities in the sector. Well-being and care of the elderly are a growing concern for policy-makers in both countries with aging populations.
