58th ASEAN Day Commemorative Celebration

On 8 August, the High Commission, in collaboration with the ASEAN-UK Business Forum (AUBF), hosted the 58th ASEAN Day reception. The event brought together ASEAN Heads of Mission, representatives from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), business leaders, and members of the diplomatic community.

Held in conjunction with Malaysia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025, the celebration reflected the region’s shared commitment to unity, peace, and prosperity. It opened with welcoming remarks by Ms. Aimee Alado-Blake, Chairperson of the AUBF, who highlighted the growing economic engagement between ASEAN and the UK. Her speech was followed by remarks by H.E. Dato’ Zakri Jaafar, High Commissioner of Malaysia to the UK, who underscored Malaysia’s vision for a more inclusive and sustainable ASEAN.

Guests also viewed a special recorded message by YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, commemorating the occasion and reaffirming Malaysia’s commitment to ASEAN values, and the importance of maintaining ASEAN Centrality in a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape. The event concluded with a note of thanks delivered by Datuk S.K. Lingam, President of AUBF.

As ASEAN continues to play a vital role in regional and international affairs, the celebration served as a timely reminder of the enduring strength of partnership, mutual respect, and collaboration among ASEAN Member States and their partners. May ASEAN continue to stand as a shining example of peace, progress, and partnership.
