London 15 September: The High Commission hosted a luncheon at Belgrave Square to celebrate the Malaysia Day - the day Sabah and Sarawak joined Tanah Melayu in 1963 to form Malaysia. This year is the first time it has been marked as a public holiday in the Peninsula. There were also more reasons to celerate this year as Merdeka Day fell on Aug 31, also coinciding with the 2nd day of Aidilfitri. Dignitaries from foreign missions to the United Kingdom were treated with a variety of Malaysian and International cuisine. The 'Malaysia Truly Asia' video was also put on show to promote Malaysia.
