Merdeka Carnival 2011

The Merdeka Carnival 2011 was successfully held at the Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre, Brickendonbury, Hertford SG13 8NL on Saturday 10 September 2011. This year’s Carnival was officiated by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia. The annual event was held to celebrate Malaysia’s 54^th year of independence.

The main attraction at the Carnival includes Malaysian food stalls, cultural performances, arts and crafts, live music and exhibition of Malaysian products and services. A variety of delicious Malaysian cuisine including the famous Satay and Roti Canai was made available to the visitors at the participating food stalls. Children were treated with free rides, bouncy castle, face paintings, games and balloons.

Visitors were enthralled by the cultural performances which include different ethnic traditional dances, martial arts demonstration and other performances which showcase the colourful and interesting aspects of Malaysian way of life and traditions. Visitors also participated in games and competitions. The highlight of the day was the raffle draw which offers attractive prizes, including airline tickets to Malaysia.
