The Merdeka Carnival to celebrate Malaysia?s 52nd Independence Day was held at the Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre in Brickendonbury, Hertfordshire, Saturday 15 August. The event attracted more than 4,000 visitors.
Most of the visitors were Malaysians, East Herts residents and British Army veterans of the National Malaya and Borneo Veteran Association, posted in Malaya (Malaysia) during the Second World War.
The guest of honour was Hertfordshire deputy lieutenant Dr Ros Taylor.
Visitors enjoyed traditional Malaysian dances and music. Around 30 stalls provided a variety of Malaysian food and delicacies, including satay.
The highlight was the stunning Lotus Evora on show at the carnival. Golf, Bowling and badminton were held prior to the carnival.
