On 16 September, the High Commission hosted the prestigious Merdeka Cup at Essendon Golf and Country Club in celebration of Malaysia Day. H.E. Dato Zakri Jaafar, welcomed over 100 participants, including H.E. Douangmany Gnotsyoudom, Ambassador of Lao PDR, along with distinguished Malaysians and local guests. The event was marked by an atmosphere of camaraderie and patriotic pride as players competed shotgun with passion and enthusiasm, making the Merdeka Cup a truly memorable celebration of unity, diversity, and sportsmanship. Mr. Ahyauddin Muhammad emerged as the overall champion, with Ms. Lin Lee taking the top spot in the Ladies category. Mr. Jo Najman championed Medal A, Mr. Ahmad Fadhlizil Ikhram Abdullah won Medal B, and Mr. Azman Ahmad secured Medal C.
