London Aug 31: Some 50 Malaysians attended a flag raising ceremony at the official residence of the High Commissioner near Hampstead in conjucntion with the celebration of the 55th year of Malaysian Independence. The event began with a Doa recitation by Ustaz Amar Sidque Mohd Amin from Education Malaysia followed by the raising of the 'Jalur Gemilang' by Sgt. Ramlan bin Idrus to the tune of Negaraku sang by all the were present. His Excellency Dato' Sri Zakaria Sulong the High Commissioner then delivered the Prime Minister's National Day speech. Also present were YB Dato' Razali Ibrahim, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports and the 5th Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi and wife. The event ended with a garden buffet at the Residence.
