On 9 August 2018, the Ladies Association in Malawakil Conakry (PERWAKILAN) paid a visit to the Voice of the Voiceless, an orphanage situated in the neighbourhood of Hafia Minière, 15 minutes’ drive from the Embassy. The visit was part of PERWAKILAN’s activities. The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. and the Third Secretary also attended the visit. 45 children including 25 boys are living in the orphanage. The members of PERWAKILAN and HBS were received by Madame Yarie Camara who is the manager of the orphanage.
This was the second visit made to this orphanage house over the past two (2) months. The purpose of this visit was to provide additional assistance to the orphans. This time, PERWAKILAN contributed foods and drinks. During the visit, PERWAKILAN also took the opportunity to tour the orphanage house to see the conditions the children are living in. The manager took the opportunity to share the history of the orphanage and also the origin of some of the children living there.
On behalf of the orphanage, Mrs Yarie Camara thanked PERWAKILAN and the HBS not only for the food assistance but also for the visit which they see as recomforting. The manager then informed PERWAKILAN about some of their difficulties related to the management of the orphanage including the lack of space to accommodate all the children, the lack of sufficient funds to deal with some of their operating expenses such as electricity and water.
The visit was also marked by the group pictures taken with the management of the orphanage and the children.
