THE WEST ASIA CRISIS AND GLOBAL ECONOMIC CHALLENGES

Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim will undertake a Special Visit to Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia, on 27 March 2026 at the invitation of President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto. The visit will focus on recent geopolitical developments, particularly the conflict in West Asia, and its impact on regional stability and the global economy, including implications for Malaysia and Indonesia.

These latest developments require comprehensive, careful and coordinated discussions between the two countries in order to align positions and strengthen strategic cooperation in responding to the situation.

In this context, both leaders are expected to intensify diplomatic efforts to ease tensions and ensure the continuity of global trade routes and supply chains that are critical to the well-being of their peoples.

The meeting will also underscore the importance of strengthening ASEAN’s role as a united and principled bloc, enabling the region to act collectively in preserving peace, maintaining regional stability, and safeguarding economic resilience amid global uncertainty.
