MALAYSIA STRONGLY CONDEMNS ISRAEL’S INTERCEPTION
OF THE GLOBAL SUMUD FLOTILLA
Malaysia strongly condemns the Zionist Israeli regime’s interception and detention of the members and crew of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) in international waters off the coast of Cyprus which were undertaking a peaceful humanitarian mission bound for Gaza on 18 May 2026. The actions of the Zionist Israeli regime constitute a blatant violation of international law, including international maritime law, international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
Malaysia demands immediate and unconditional release of all detained Flotilla members and the crew including the 25 Malaysians and their vessels, as well as the safety of the other remaining members and crew on the Flotilla vessels.
Malaysia calls upon the United Nations Security Council and the international community to hold Israel accountable for its continued violations of international law and attacks against humanitarian missions.
Malaysia remains steadfast in its solidarity with the Palestinian people and in supporting all genuine efforts towards achieving a just, comprehensive and lasting peace, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
