H.E. Ambassador Aminahtun Hj. Abdul Karim and her spouse, Encik Shaharudin Abdul Ghani hosted a Morning Coffee at the Residence on Tuesday, 24 June 2008 for a group of female Ambassadors and spouses of Ambassadors. During the occasion, Malaysian entrepreneur and batik designer, Mrs. Kartini Illyas owner of I-Karrtini boutiques in Suria KLCC gave a briefing on Malaysian Batik and batik-making techniques. This was followed by a video presentation of a batik fashion show. Staff of the Embassy then modelled in a live parade some of Mrs. Kartini’s batik creations. Some men’s batik shirts were also showcased by male “models”. The guests later had a chance to practice their artistic skills by painting on a fabric with specially designed batik motif. Malaysian cuisine including bihun goreng, cucur udang, popiah goreng, kek gula hangus, pisang and ubi keledek goreng was served to guests. They were also presented with a bangle handmade by Penan women and a booklet on Malaysian Batik as a memento. Embassy of 26 June 2008
