Malaysia has been named the world's best tourist and value for moeny destination by the international magazine Global Traveler.
According to the magazine, a business traveler would pay an average of US$260 (RM 936) for a hotel room, meals, transportation and entertainment compare to Tokyo wich would cost US$1090 (RM 3924) a day.
The award makes Malaysian feel very proud, said Tourism Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
"The award is not decided by judges but by votes recieved from Americans who go holidaying all over the world".
The safety of tourists, level of service and hospitality and the general feeling of Americans towards the countries they had visited were among the criteria used in selecting winner countries.
He expressed confidence that the Ministry's target of 17,5 million tourists coming to Malaysia this year could be achieved.
