Two officials from Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia represented by Mr. Khirudin bin Drahman Hussaini, Senior Assistant Fire Commissioner from Kuala Lumpur and Mr. Mohamad Zin bin Salleh, Senior Fire Superintendent I from Fire and Rescue Academy in Perak attended the 14th Firefighters Symposium in Opatija on 19-20 April 2018 upon the invitation of the National Protection and Rescue Directorate of Croatia (DUZS). During the symposium, the officials were able to give a briefing about firefighting system in Malaysia to about 300 participants from this region.
The delegation was given the opportunity to visit the headquarters of DUZS and various Firefighting Departments in Zagreb, Varazdin, Opatija and Rijeka. This visit has strengthened the cooperation between Malaysian and Croatian firefighting departments when the first batch of Croatian firefighters visited Malaysia in 2002 through the MTCP programme.
