The Embassy of Malaysia in Budapest participated in the First Table Tennis Tournament for Foreign Embassies in Budapest on 13 June 2010. It was held at the Budapest International Sports Centre. The Embassy sent two teams, including participation from Matrade in the mix-team section, led by Ambassador Dato' Kamilan Maksom. Twenty-two teams from foreign Embassies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Hungary played against each other during this inaugural event. Even though the Malaysian team stumbled in the quater finals, the team spirit was palpable with all the players, family members and its supporters wearing eye-catching yellow T-shirts with 1Malaysia logo proudly printed on them. The inaugural event was a great success with a popular request for the tournament to be made as an annual event.
