Iftar Program at the Embassy
1. During the holy month of Ramadhan, the Malaysian Embassy organized a weekly Iftar programme held at the multi-purpose hall of the Chancery. The Embassy staff, together with Malaysian communities residing in Hungary, had prepared varieties of Malaysian delicacies and joined in the weekly potluck Buka Puasa.
2. After the breaking of fast, they performed the Teraweeh Prayers together and followed by “moreh”, a popular practice in Malaysia where refreshments were served after the Teraweeh.
3. During one of the Iftar get-togethers, the Embassy had the privilege to host a Buka Puasa together for the multi-ethnic four members of the KL-London “Expedisi 1 Malaysia” bikers who had made a three day stopover in Budapest. It was heartening to hear their bitter-sweet experience and the challenges they endured: they had to fund most of the expenses on their own and tackle the treacherous journeys along the famous silk routes. All these were for the noble goals of putting Malaysia on the world map and to raise fund for the less fortunate members of the society, the orphanage children at the Islamic Relief Malaysia. They are our true Malaysian heroes and deserve our praise for their monumental “ambassadorial” duties.
