The Director for the State Economic Development of Perak, H.E. Dato’ Hj. Abu Bakar Hj. Said, led a delegation of six State Officials for a working visit to Hungary from 19 - 22 October 2011. The purpose of the visit was to undertake a comprehensive study and learn from the Danube Commission's experience, policies and management on the rehabilitation of the Danube River as their proficiency led to the successful transformation of the Danube into an important international waterway and a popular tourist attraction. The Danube River has been chosen by the Perak State Government to be the model for the rehabilitation of the Perak River under its Integrated River Basin Management (IRBM) Project; to establish an integrated management system with strategies that provide economic opportunities to all in a revitalized river with tourism as one of the main components. The visit has helped establish working relations between the Perak State and the Danube Commission and the Danube Tourism Commission.
H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Kamilan Maksom and Datin Zubaidah Abdullah also took the opportunity to host a dinner in honour of the delegation at the Official Residence.
