VISIT TO PANNONIA UNIVERSITY, 29 APRIL 2015, BUDAPEST

Amb. Sadik visited the University of Pannonia in Veszprem located southwest of Budapest.  He paid a courtesy call on the Chancellor Dr. Kovacs Gyula and held discussion with the Rector Prof. Ferenc Friedler to explore institutional collaborations and student exchanges between Malaysia and Hungary.  This visit is part of his tireless work on public diplomacy to reach out to the academias and engage with the Hungarian esp. the youth.  Presently there are six Malaysian undergraduates from University Technology of Petronas and University of Nottingham Malaysia undergoing internship programme at the University.  In 2014, the University had decorated the prestigious “Pannonia Award” to Prof. Dr. Zainuddin Abd Manan, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering of the University Science and Technology Malaysia.  The University has also developed extensive joint research programme with UTP in Chemical and Process Engineering.  Prof. Friedler is scheduled to attend the “18th Conference Process Integration, Modelling and Optimism for Energy Saving and Pollution Reduction” to be held in Kuching, Sarawak on 23 – 27 August 2015.  The Embassy is capitalising his presence in Kuching for Prof. Friedler to meet with the Vice-Chancellor of University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).  Amb. Sadik’s visit at the Pannonia University ended with a brief tour of Veszprem city one of the oldest towns in Hungary.
