History
The Permanent Mission of Malaysia to ASEAN (PTM ASEAN) was established and began its operation on 7 January 2009 in accordance with Article 12(1) of the ASEAN Charter, which came into force on 15 December 2008. Since its establishment, PTM ASEAN has contributed to the work of ASEAN towards achieving a unified region in the areas of political-security, economic and socio-cultural through cooperation with other ASEAN Member States and ASEAN external partners.
PTM ASEAN is currently headed by H.E. Datin Sarah Al Bakri Devadason, Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN since 30 May 2024.
