Malaysia recently participated in the ASEAN Regional Forum Inter-Sessional Support Group Meeting on Confidence Building Measures and Preventive Diplomacy (ARF ISG on CBM and PD) which was held in New Delhi on 11-12 April 2016. The Malaysian delegation was led by Mr Wan Aznainizam Yusri Wan Abd Rashid, Deputy High Commissioner of the High Commission of Malaysia, New Delhi. Other members of the delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, the National Security Council of Malaysia (MKN), as well as the National Disaster Management Authorities (NaDMA). The purpose of the meeting was to foster constructive dialogue and consultation on political and security issues of common interest and concern to its member states as well as to contribute towards efforts in strengthening confidence-building and preventive diplomacy efforts in the Asia Pacific region.
At the recent Meeting, Malaysia took the opportunity to brief ARF members on the outcomes of the 27th ASEAN Summit, the 22nd ASEAN Regional Forum and other Ministerial Meeting held during Malaysia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2015. In addition, the Head of the Malaysian delegation also briefed on the outcomes of ARF Inter Sessional Meetings and activities as well as updated member countries on the preparations for ARF Meetings and Activities in the Intercessional Year 2015-2016.
