Malaysians In India Brave Blstering Heat To Honour King's Birthday By P.Vijian

NEW DELHI, June 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysian patriotism did not wilt under the blazing heat or distance between Malaysia and India when many residing across here once again displayed their patriotism to the nation by celebrating Yang di-Pertuan Agong's birthday, yesterday.

Braving one of the hottest Indian summer days in Delhi, where the mercury tipped above 43 degrees Celsius, Malaysian families, some towing their children, gathered early at the High Commission for the event.

Malaysian High Commissioner to India Datuk Tan Seng Sung hosted a simple but a meaningful dinner to commemorate the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin's birthday.

In his brief welcoming speech, Tan stressed on the "1 Malaysia" concept and called on Malaysians living in India to cherish unity, regardless of their race or religion.

"By holding the 1Malaysia concept, we can build one dream, one vision and one dynamic country. Unity is the key to the transformation of the nation," he said.

In Chennai, Consul General Anuar Kasman and Mumbai Consul General Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah also hosted similar events for Malaysians.
