CELEBRATION OF THE OFFICIAL BIRTHDAY OF

YANG DI-PERTUAN AGONG ON 2 JUNE 2007

 

The High Commission of Malaysia, New Delhi celebrated the birthday of Yang di-Pertuan Agong on 2 June 2007 at the official residence in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The event was attended by around 150 Malaysians comprising of officials and staff of the Mission with their families, Malaysians working and studying around New Delhi and the Locally Recruited Staff.

 

 

2. The celebration started with the raising of Jalur Gemilang in the compound accompanied by a spirited rendition of Negaraku by all present. This was followed by several patriotic songs performed by the Youth Choir comprising of children of the Mission’s officers and staff.

 

3. The celebration then shifted indoor to escape the scorching 48?C temperature. After the recitation of ’doa’ and words of welcome from the Acting High Commissioner, Puan Norlin Othman, the group helped themselves to the scrumptious fare of Malaysian delicacies prepared by PERWAKILAN.

 

 

4. During the event, the High Commission also set up a registration counter to enable the guests to update their information particulars in the Mission Register of Malaysian residing in India.

 

 

5. The event was a great success going by the number of attendance, not only from Malaysian around New Delhi but also as far away as Jaipur (Rajashtan). It gave the opportunity to Malaysians residing in India to interact with members of the High Commission and also to maintain the spirit of ’Malaysian’ in those living abroad.
