*'Oh I come from a land, from a faraway place

Where the caravan camels roam

Where it's flat and immerse

And the heat is intense ?

Come on down

Stop on by

Hop a carpet and fly

To another Arabian night''*

Inspired by the tales in the literature of the Arabian Nights, the Embassy of Malaysia and PERWAKILAN Amman organised another eventful get-together at the Malaysian Residence on 6 August 2009.  The get-together also included some Malaysians residing in Jordan, representatives from Malaysia companies operating in Jordan, colleagues from diplomatic circle and 'Friends of Malaysia' from the local community

With the theme set for the night ' '1001 Arabian Nights', the Malaysian Residence witnessed the presence of all officials from the Embassy of Malaysia and ladies from PERWAKILAN Amman graced the night with colourful Arabian garments and head covers.  It was a complete fresh setting for the Embassy's monthly get-together, as the Residence was full of Malaysian 'sayyed' and 'sayyidina'.

H.E. Dato' Abdul Malek bin Abdul Aziz and Datin Jamilah Talib have marvelous singing talent too!

Guest served with Malaysian food

Programmed to be an informal gathering between 'family members and friends' of the Embassy of Malaysia, the night was intermission with food and karaoke sessions.  To observe a 'sheikh' in his complete Arabian dress but singing a Malay song; was a totally bizarre but acceptable scene which took some time to sink in.  Praises were also due to the PERWAKILAN ladies, not only for the food they had prepared for the guests, but also for their courage to learn and perform the Arabian dance.

Observing the laughter and smile on each and every face of all participants, the gathering was sure a memorable night to be remembered.
