On 15 May 2026, the Embassy of Malaysia in Amman participated in the ICS
International Food Fair 2026 organised by the International Community School Amman
in Amman, Jordan. The annual event brought together diplomatic missions, international
communities, students, parents and local visitors in a celebration of cultural diversity
through food, traditional attire and cultural presentations. The participation of the
Embassy aimed to promote Malaysian culture, strengthen people-to-people ties, and
introduce Malaysian cuisine and traditions to the international community in Jordan.
Prior to the event, officers and staff of the Embassy undertook extensive
preparations for the Malaysian booth, including the preparation of traditional Malaysian
dishes such as Nasi Lemak, Bihun Goreng, Popia, Karipap, Kuih Cara, Kuih Lapis, Kek Pisang and Pisang Goreng, as well as cultural decorations. A variety of Malaysian food items were prepared and
served to visitors, attracting significant interest from attendees throughout the
programme, also the highlights of the Malaysian participation was the live demonstration of
“roti jala”, a popular Malaysian traditional delicacy. The demonstration received
enthusiastic responses from visitors, many of whom were eager to observe the
preparation process and taste the freshly made roti jala served together with curry
dishes. The interactive cooking session also provided an opportunity for Embassy staff
to explain the cultural significance and uniqueness of Malaysian cuisine to the
international audience.
In addition to the food exhibition, the Malaysian booth featured cultural elements
and hospitality that reflected Malaysia’s multicultural identity. Visitors, including
members of the diplomatic corps, students and parents, expressed appreciation for the
rich flavours and diversity of Malaysian food. The event also served as a useful platform
for the Embassy to engage informally with representatives of various embassies,
international organisations and the wider expatriate community in Jordan.
