Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Waleed al-Maani received Wednesday, June 10 , Malaysian Ambassador to Jordan Dato’ Abdul Malek bin Abdul Aziz and discussed increasing the number of Malaysian students admitted to Jordanian universities.

Dr. Maani said that the Higher Education Council has decided to exempt the non-Arab students of community colleges and institutions who want to study at Jordanian universities of the admission exam held by Al-Balq’a Applied University for both Arabic Language and Shari’a Studies majors. These regulations should encourage the Malaysian students who wish to join Jordanian universities to finish their studies, Maani said. Dr. Maani underlined the importance of activating the educational agreement between Jordan and Malaysia and extending bridges of cooperation between the higher education institutions in both countries.

Malaysian Ambassador said that the new regulations by the Higher Education Council would open the door for increasing the number of Malaysian students studying at Jordanian universities, particularly in the Islamic Finance and Banking studies. Abdul Aziz also pointed out the possibility of increasing the number of Malaysian students studying medicine and dentistry at Jordan University of Science and Technology.
