The Embassy of Malaysia in Amman, Jordan, in collaboration with Malaysian Timber Council (MTC), jointly organised the Timber Marketing Mission to Jordan from 31 May to 2 June 2010 in Sheraton Hotel, Amman. The business mission was be headed by the Chief Executive Officer of MTC, Mr Cheah Kam Huan accompanied by the Ambassador of Malaysia to Jordan, His Excellency Dato’ Abdul Malek bin Abdul Aziz and MTC Dubai-based Director, Mr Khairul Anwar.
The main objectives of the business mission were to establish existing and potential business linkages between Malaysian timber products exporters with local importers, developers, contractors and specifiers. Not only that, Malaysian Timber Council aims at promoting the Malaysian timber trade and develop the market for timber products globally and to promote the development of the timber industry by expanding the industry's manufacturing technology base, in addition to augment the supply of raw materials for the timber-processing industries and to provide information services to the timber industry.
This mission would also play an important role to improve market awareness on Malaysia’s timber based products. The quality of
The export of timber products to the major markets in West Asia from Malaysia continued to grow in tandem with massive developments in this region. The total export of timber products from Malaysia to West Asia in 2009 amounted to US$ 508million. For Jordan, Malaysia exports US$22.1 million in 2009. Malaysia views Jordan as highly potential business partners, especially in timber products, and with the marketing mission, Malaysia hopes to further enhance the economic bilateral relation between the two brotherly countries.
