Birth/Marriage Registration

       

REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGE FOR MALAYSIANS

 

Non-Muslim Malaysian citizens who marriage outside Malaysia must register the marriage with this office within six (6) months.

For registration of marriage, both husband and wife must be present at the Consular Office and submit the original and two sets photocopy of each of the following documents:

  1. An original and one copy of the local marriage certificate issued by Commune / Sangkat of the Kingdom of Cambodia;
  2. One original copy of the English translated version of the local marriage certificate by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia;
  3. An original and one copy of Malaysian & Cambodian Identity cards (photocopy both sides);
  4. An original and one copy of Malaysian & Cambodian passports;
  5. One passport size photograph each of husband & wife;
  6. Fee USD10.00 (cash) for registration made within six (6) months from the date of marriage
  7. A penalty charge will be imposed for late registration
  8.  Processing period: Three working days.

Note:

Registration of marriage should be done at the Embassy not later than six months from the date of marriage. 

The application for marriage between Malaysian and Cambodian citizenship must be approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

 

Muslim Marriages 

Muslim Malaysian marriages are subject to prior consent from the religious authorities in Malaysia and must follow the regulations set by the state religious department of the applicants and Highest Council for Islamic Religious Affairs, Cambodia.

Conditions of Application
  • Child has not been registered as Cambodian Citizen;
  • Registration must be done within one year from the date of birth of child;
  • Both parents are Malaysian;
  • Father (Malaysian);
  • Single Mother (Malaysian); and
  • Child / children must be present during registration.

Application Procedures

Application form (Borang D / JPN.WN02 - Borang Daftar Kelahiran Luar Negara) cannot be downloaded. It is only available at the Consular Section of the Embassy of Malaysia.

  1. Fee: USD 10.00
  1. Processing period: Three working days.
  1. Borang D is the application form. Borang H is the certificate of registration of birth issued to applicant;
  1. Parent’s foreign birth certificate / documents must be translated into English and duly endorsed by the respective Embassy / High Commission / Consulate
  1. All foreign certs, ID's & documents to be certified true copy from relevant embassies.
  1. Late Registration – Application made after one year of the birth of the child must be submitted to the National Registration Department, HQ at Putrajaya for approval. The child and parents must be present at the National Registration Department, HQ at Putrajaya. A letter from the father explaining the reason for the delay in registering is required
