Dato' Adnan Haji Othman, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Cambodia hosted the 50th National Day of Malaysia reception at the Raffles Hotel Le Royal on 31 August 2007.
The reception was attended by 219 invited guests comprising members of the Cambodian cabinet, members of the Senate and National Assembly, senior government officials, Heads of Diplomatic Mission, top local bankers, captains of industry, local entrepreneurs and members of the media.
Amongst the notable guests include Deputy Prime Minister Nhiek Bun Chhay, First Vice-President of the Senate HRH Samdech Sisowath Chivan Monirak, Senior Minister Men Sam An, Minister of Health Nuth Sokhom, Minister of Transport Sun Chantol, Minister of Agriculture Chan Sarun, Minister of Justice Ang Vong Vathana and Phnom Penh Governor Kep Chuktema. Senior Minister and Minister of Environment Dr. Mok Mareth represented the Royal Cambodian Government in proposing the toast.
Guests were entertained to a Batik Exclusive fashion show by Zizi Design from Kuala Lumpur. On the menu were Malaysian Food prepared by the hotel like Chicken Satay and Lamb Murtabak. PERWAKILAN Phnom Penh prepared Malaysian classics like Nasi Lemak and Laksa Penang while Roti Canai and Char Koay Teow were prepared by Malaysian owned restaurants Mamak's Corner and Café Malaya. The Tapai Pulut and Ice Cream dessert was a first-time experience for the guests and was a big hit.
